Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a drug dealer with 31 kilograms of marijuana in an operation under Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi district in the early hours of today. The operation, conducted by the Sadar Company of RAB-5, took place on the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway in front of the Kesharhat Government Primary School under Mohanpur Police Station at 3:10am. The arrested individual, Mukul alias Kalu, 40, son of the late Kitab Ali of Bakshail village in Mohanpur upazila, was found in possession of the contraband. Another suspect, truck driver Raju Mia, 20, managed to escape during the operation.

According to RAB, preliminary interrogation revealed that Mukul had been collecting marijuana in collusion with his associate for an extended period and selling it in Mohanpur and other areas. He confessed that the seized marijuana was intended for sale. A case has been filed at Mohanpur Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act against both Mukul and the fugitive Raju Mia.

The operation was based on a secret tip-off, highlighting the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb drug trafficking in the region. The seizure of such a large quantity of marijuana underscores the persistent challenge of drug trade in Bangladesh, necessitating continuous vigilance and action by security forces.
