Dhaka Police Arrest 466 in Major Anti-Crime Operation

In a major anti-crime initiative, Dhaka Metropolitan Police apprehended 466 individuals and seized various illicit items.

Over the past 24 hours, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a large-scale anti-crime operation across the capital, resulting in the arrest of 466 individuals and the filing of 57 cases. The operation was aimed at curbing criminal activities and ensuring public safety in Dhaka.

Details of the Arrests and Seizures

The arrested individuals came from various parts of the city, with notable numbers from Mirpur, Motijheel, Wari, Tejgaon, Uttara, Gulshan, Ramna, and Lalbagh. Additionally, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and the Detective Branch (DB) made significant contributions by apprehending 11 and 1 suspects, respectively.

During these operations, police confiscated a variety of items, including vehicles, electronic devices, narcotics, and counterfeit government materials. The seized items ranged from one jeep and one motorcycle to electronic devices like a laptop, CPUs, a hard disk, and a monitor. Police also recovered 21 mobile phones and 135 SIM cards, along with 41 seals bearing the names and signatures of high-ranking officials.

Moreover, the police found a significant quantity of illicit substances, including 1.25 kg of cannabis, 6,658 yaba tablets, 70 liters of locally made liquor, and 60 buprenorphine injections. These substances were part of the items recovered during the crackdown.

The DMP reported that the suspects were arrested in separate operations across different police station areas in Dhaka. Legal actions against these individuals are currently underway.

This operation highlights the commitment of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to maintain law and order and protect the citizens of the capital from criminal activities.
