State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced plans to elevate the Chattogram Zoo to international standards. The zoo will be developed as a center for animal conservation, research, education, and raising public awareness about biodiversity. Tuku emphasized that the modernized zoo will provide practical knowledge about important animals, their lifestyles, characteristics, and environmental significance for students and the general public.
Tuku highlighted that the purpose of a modern zoo is to ensure an integrated environment for animal conservation, research, education, environmental awareness, and healthy recreation. The Chattogram Zoo will incorporate modern infrastructure, improved management, a visitor-friendly environment, and various educational activities.
During the zoo visit, Chattogram-7 lawmaker Hummam Kader Chowdhury, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Md. Shahjaman Khan, and senior officials from various government departments were present. The upgrade is expected to significantly enhance the zoo's role in conservation and education, benefiting future generations in Bangladesh.
