Family sources reported that Hossain fell ill at his residence in the Railbazar area of Jessore city on May 12. He was initially admitted to the Coronary Care Unit of Jessore General Hospital. Two days later, he was transferred to a private hospital in the capital for advanced treatment. After showing some improvement, he was brought back to Jessore but fell ill again and was readmitted to Jessore General Hospital last Monday.

Rabiul Alam, deputy leader of the Mujib Bahini in greater Jessore, stated that Hossain was not just a freedom fighter but also a witness to a significant period in history. His death has cast a shadow of grief among fellow freedom fighters.

Family members informed that Hossain's wife and only son, Rajen Ali, had passed away earlier. His only daughter, Farzana Ali, who resides in Canada, had come to the country to take care of her father's treatment. His funeral will be held after Asr prayers at Jessore Central Eidgah Maidan, followed by burial at the family graveyard in Kazipur village, Sadar Upazila.

When JaSad reunified in 1997, he became involved in Awami League politics. Although he did not hold any party position, he actively campaigned for the Awami League in various elections.
