106,000 Yaba Tablets Seized in Cox's Bazar: Major Drug Bust in Ukhiya

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) apprehended a significant drug trafficking attempt, seizing 106,000 Yaba tablets worth Tk 3.28 crore.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 106,000 Yaba tablets valued at an estimated Tk 3.28 crore from a private car at the Whykong Checkpost in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar. The BGB arrested the driver, Md Saiful Islam Khokon, during a routine patrol operation.

Operation Details

A BGB patrol signaled a private car traveling from Teknaf to Cox's Bazar to stop at the Whykong Checkpost around 10:00 pm on Monday. Upon searching the vehicle, the patrol discovered 106,000 Yaba tablets packed in 16 packets wrapped in black polythene and concealed inside the front bumper of the car.

Arrest and Confession

The arrested driver, Md Saiful Islam Khokon, 36, son of Mohammad Ismail from the Paranipara PM Khali area under Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila, confessed during preliminary interrogation that he had collected the Yaba tablets from Teknaf and was transporting them to Cox's Bazar for sale at a higher price.

Legal Action

The BGB also seized the private car used for trafficking and a mobile phone. Legal action has been initiated in connection with the incident, according to the release from the Commanding Officer of Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB).
