Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, along with his delegation, attended a banquet hosted by Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing today. The event followed a bilateral meeting where several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between the two countries.

Warm Reception and Ceremonial Honors

Tarique Rahman received a warm reception upon arriving at the Great Hall in a ceremonial motorcade from the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. A red carpet was rolled out, and Premier Li Qiang cordially welcomed him. The two leaders walked along the red carpet to a specially decorated platform where a Guard of Honour presented by the Chinese Armed Forces was held. The national anthems of both countries were played, and a gun salute was presented in honor of the Bangladeshi Prime Minister.

Bilateral Meetings and Future Engagements

During the bilateral meeting, both Prime Ministers introduced the members of their respective delegations. Tarique Rahman is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping tomorrow at the Great Hall of the People. PMO spokesman Mahdi Amin stated that various issues related to Bangladesh's national interests will be raised during these meetings.

Cooperation and Investment Initiatives

The two sides reached a consensus on expanding cooperation in areas such as the Teesta Master Plan, river management, flood-risk mitigation, and more. Tarique Rahman also addressed an 'Invest Bangladesh' event, inviting Chinese investors to take advantage of Bangladesh's investment-friendly environment and new incentives.

Political and Family Legacy

Amin highlighted the political and family legacy of Bangladesh-China relations, noting that Tarique Rahman's father and mother had previously strengthened ties with China. The current Prime Minister remains committed to elevating these relations further.
