The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome held a solemn ceremony to observe July Martyrs' Day, honoring those who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Movement.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome observed July Martyrs' Day 2026 with profound solemnity, honoring those who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Movement. Italian citizens, expatriate Bangladeshis, representatives of various organizations, media members, and embassy officials gathered to pay tribute.

The event commenced with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs, followed by the reading of messages from the President and Prime Minister. A discussion highlighted the significance of July Martyrs' Day, recalling the background of the July Uprising and the contributions of various groups in transforming it into a nationwide movement.

Addressing the gathering, Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy Rokebul Haque paid tribute to martyrs Abu Sayeed, Wasim Akram, Mugdha, and others. He emphasized the government's commitment to honoring the martyrs, supporting their families, and ensuring justice for those injured during the movement.

Ambassador Haque called for unity among all Bangladeshis, urging them to work together towards building a discrimination-free, democratic, and prosperous Bangladesh. The ceremony concluded with a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the martyrs and continued peace and prosperity for Bangladesh.
