Bangladesh Women's team managed to put up 136-8 against India in their crucial T20 World Cup game at Manchester in England today. A victory in this match would help Bangladesh make a giant stride toward the semifinal in the showpiece event for the first time in their history.
Solid Start
Opener Juairiya Ferdous made a team-best 33 while captain Nigar Sultana Joty added 32. However, apart from them, no one could stand tall against a disciplined Indian attack. After opting to bat first, Bangladesh lost opener Dilara Akter cheaply but still got going well thanks to Juairiya and Shobhana Mostary (22) as the duo combined for a 51-run for the second wicket to pave a solid platform.
Indian Comeback
India clawed back into the contest, sending back those two set batters in the space of four overs, leaving captain Joty to dig in deep. Joty responded well but got little support from the other end.
Key Performances
Radha Yadav, India's most successful bowler with 3-28, removed Joty in the 17th over, effectively ruining Bangladesh's hope to utilize the last powerplay well. Shree Charani claimed 2-21 to complement Radha Yadav.
Road to Semifinals
This match is crucial for Bangladesh as a win would significantly boost their chances of reaching the semifinals for the first time in the T20 World Cup. The team showed resilience but will need more contributions from the batting lineup to secure a victory.
