Fourteen entrepreneurs in Thakurgaon have been awarded a combined Tk 11.20 lakh in financial grants under the Sustainable Small Enterprises and Eco-Friendly Transformation Project. The grants were distributed at a program organized by the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) at its head office in the district town on Thursday. The funds will be used to purchase solar-powered irrigation systems and hammer machines to promote environmentally friendly technologies in rice production and processing.

ESDO Director (Administration) Principal Dr. Selima Akhtar attended the event as the chief guest and distributed the grant cheques among the beneficiaries. Dr. Akhtar highlighted that the project aims to expand the use of eco-friendly technologies in the rice sector, helping entrepreneurs become more self-reliant and contributing to rural economic transformation and green growth.

ESDO Managing Director Shashwat Zaman, senior officials of the organization, and local rice mill sector entrepreneurs were present at the event. The organizers emphasized that such initiatives will continue to support the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, strengthen entrepreneurs' capacities, and promote sustainable agriculture and food processing systems.

The distribution of these grants underscores the importance of sustainable practices in agriculture, particularly in rural areas where traditional methods can be resource-intensive and environmentally damaging. By promoting the use of solar-powered irrigation and hammer machines, the project aims to reduce the carbon footprint of rice production and enhance the resilience of local economies.
