Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today exchanged greetings with leaders of political parties that participated in the simultaneous anti-fascist movement at the State Guest House Jamuna. The event marked the first formal meeting between the Prime Minister and the leaders since the BNP formed the government after the 13th parliamentary election held on February 12. Leaders from 41 political parties, including the Ganatantra Mancha, 12-Party Alliance, Like-Minded Nationalist Alliance, Democratic Left Alliance, Islami Oikya Jote, and other Islamic political parties, were invited to the event.
Event Details
The Prime Minister arrived at the venue in the open courtyard of the State Guest House at 7:27 pm. Arrangements had been made for the leaders of the parties that took part in the joint movement. Tarique Rahman went from table to table, exchanging greetings with the leaders. He was accompanied by BNP Secretary General and LGRD and Cooperatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Formal Programme
The formal programme began at 7:40 pm with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Members of the BNP Standing Committee and members of the liaison committee formed during the movement also joined the event.
