In a recent address, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman accused beneficiaries of fascism of actively working to destabilize Bangladesh’s power and energy sector. The Prime Minister stated that this group is spreading misleading information and causing confusion to undermine the sector. He emphasized that the current challenges in electricity, gas, and fuel are a consequence of previous governments' unplanned projects. The present government is taking steps to mitigate these issues and protect the country from further harm.
Rahman made these remarks during a doctors’ rally held to commemorate the 37th founding anniversary of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) at the Jatiya Sangsad complex. He pointed out that the inherited fragility of the energy sector was due to previous governments' decisions aimed at providing special benefits to certain groups, now causing widespread crises.
The Prime Minister assured the nation that the government is actively formulating plans to alleviate the current crises in gas, electricity, and fuel supply. He highlighted the importance of addressing these challenges to safeguard the country and its people. The government’s efforts include taking various steps to overcome the multifaceted crises inherited from past administrations.
Accompanied by his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, the Prime Minister also participated in a tree-planting ceremony and formally inaugurated the doctors’ rally by hoisting the national and party flags. The event was attended by DAB leaders and doctors from across the country, with DAB President Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid presiding over the gathering.
