During a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, he emphasized the need for sincere treatment and stricter measures against negligence. The Prime Minister also directed the expansion of dialysis services and the strengthening of healthcare infrastructure across the country.
Ensuring Accessible Healthcare
At the meeting held at the Secretariat, Prime Minister Rahman stressed the importance of making healthcare easily accessible for people in rural areas. He highlighted the need for government hospitals to become the most trusted destination for medical treatment, ensuring that everyone receives satisfactory care without suffering. The Prime Minister's directives come amid allegations of inadequate treatment at the upazila level, prompting him to call for necessary measures, including disciplinary actions where negligence is found.
Expanding Dialysis Services and Infrastructure
In an effort to improve treatment facilities for kidney patients, Prime Minister Rahman announced plans to expand 10-bed dialysis centers at district hospitals to 50 beds. Additionally, dialysis centers will be established at all upazila levels over the next three years. The expansion aims to develop skilled manpower and ensure adequate logistical support. The meeting also discussed upgrading upazila health complexes from 51 to 101 beds, with detailed infrastructure designs and implementation plans presented by engineers from the Public Works Department.
