A mobile court fined eight pharmacies and a roadside shopkeeper a total of Tk 77,000 during a drive in Madhabdi Municipality under Narsingdi Sadar Upazila. The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Md. Khalid Hossain Shimul of the Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner's Office.

Pharmacy Offenses

During the drive, the court filed seven cases under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 2023 against Awlad Pharmacy-1, Awlad Pharmacy-2, Mobarak Medical, Mukul Medicine, Sohag Pharmacy, Adel Pharmacy and New Riju Pharmacy. The pharmacies were fined a total of Tk 75,000 for offenses including selling expired medicines, marketing physician samples, and selling prohibited medicines.

Roadside Shopkeeper

In a separate case, the court fined a roadside shopkeeper Tk 2,000 under the Local Government (Municipality) Act, 2009 for obstructing public movement by operating a business on a public road. Sirajum Monira, Drug Superintendent of Narsingdi, prosecuted the cases during the mobile court proceedings.

This enforcement action highlights ongoing efforts to regulate the pharmaceutical sector and ensure public safety. The fines imposed serve as a deterrent against unlawful practices in the sale and distribution of medicines.
