State Minister for Health Dr. M A Muhit today stressed the need for a digital health app and advanced international training for grassroots health workers and young physicians to improve women's healthcare across Bangladesh. Speaking at a seminar titled 'Her Health Bangladesh: Accelerating Women's Health and Well-being through Strengthening the National Maternal Health and Cervical and Breast Cancer Programme', Dr. Muhit outlined plans to develop a two-way digital application with separate interfaces for patients and healthcare providers.
Digital Health and Innovation
Dr. Muhit highlighted the 'Digital Health and Innovation' component of the project as vital for modernising healthcare services. The proposed app aims to facilitate grassroots data collection, follow-up reminders, and health education, ensuring healthcare services reach people's doorsteps. The seminar was jointly financed by the Government of Bangladesh and the European Investment Bank with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Strengthening Grassroots Healthcare
Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Health Affairs S M Ziauddin Hyder addressed the seminar, outlining a plan to integrate the country's three categories of frontline health workers into a single workforce titled 'Community Health Worker'. This initiative aims to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery. Additional Secretary (Planning) Shah Imam Ali Reza, UNFPA Bangladesh Representative Catherine Breen Camacho, and Additional Director General (Planning and Development) of the Directorate General of Health Services Prof. Dr. Fowara Tasneem, among others, attended the seminar.
