A nine-month-old baby succumbed to measles at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital, increasing the measles death toll in Rangpur division to 12.

A nine-month-old infant, identified as Shaon, passed away due to measles symptoms at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital on Saturday night. This unfortunate event brings the total number of measles-related child deaths in the Rangpur division to 12. Shaon, the son of Sweet Mia from Sadar upazila in Nilphamari district, was receiving treatment in the hospital's measles isolation ward when he passed away.

Measles Situation in Rangpur Division

In the last 24 hours, 20 new patients with measles-rubella symptoms have been identified in Rangpur division. One patient is receiving treatment at Lalmonirhat General Hospital, five at Nilphamari, four at Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital, and ten at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital. Since March 30, a total of 2,150 patients with measles-rubella symptoms have been reported in the division. Of these, 2,098 patients have recovered and returned home, while 52 patients are still undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
