Bangladesh Reports Four Additional Child Deaths Linked to Measles Symptoms

The ongoing measles outbreak in Bangladesh has claimed four more child lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from measles symptoms to 702 since March 15.

Four more children have died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). This brings the total number of deaths from measles symptoms nationwide to 702 since March 15. Meanwhile, 1,008 new patients were identified during the same period.

Current Statistics and Trends

The DGHS reported that 95 children have died from confirmed measles, bringing the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and measles symptoms to 797. Notably, no child died from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours. However, 130 children were confirmed to have contracted measles, while 878 patients were identified with measles symptoms.

Hospital Admissions and Discharges

Since March 15, the total number of suspected measles cases has reached 119,448, with 14,708 confirmed cases. During this period, 102,244 children have been admitted to hospitals. Of these, 98,411 have been discharged and returned home. The continuous rise in cases underscores the severity of the outbreak and the need for urgent public health interventions.
