State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr M A Muhit has said the e-health card is near to implementation to bring a fundamental transformation into the country's health sector. He made the remark at a seminar held at the conference room of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) in the capital this afternoon, said a press release. Muhit emphasized that the present government is placing special emphasis on a digital roadmap and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to reorganize the country's overall healthcare system and strengthen primary healthcare.
The state minister noted that the government is working on remodeling the healthcare system, with a detailed outline presented in the election manifesto of the BNP. Priority has been given to strengthen primary healthcare and prepare a digital roadmap for the entire health system. These plans were developed over the past one and a half to two years through a participatory process involving the opinions of health experts at home and abroad.
Dr Muhit mentioned that the rapid pace of technological advancement has significantly influenced these initiatives. Developments in technology that previously took five or 10 years are now taking place within two years. He highlighted that initiatives such as the e-health card and digital prescription are now ready for implementation. The need to establish an ideal platform to ensure health for all and make basic healthcare a state priority was also emphasized.
