Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has received two prestigious awards in recognition of its outstanding contributions to anti-drug awareness and prevention programmes. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed presented the awards as the chief guest at a ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka. The awards were received by Iqbal Masud, Director of the Health Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, and Mizanur Rahman, Manager of the Ahsania Mission Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center of Jessore.
Award Ceremony and Recognition
The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) selected Ahsania Mission for the awards in recognition of the exceptional contributions of its Jessore center to science-based drug prevention programmes as well as the mission's vibrant participation in the national anti-drug rally. Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Monjur Morshed Chowdhury was present as the special guest, and Director General of the Department of Narcotics Control Hasan Maruf presided over the event.
National Anti-Drug Rally
To mark the occasion, over 300 youths carrying banners and festoons participated in a colorful rally organized jointly by the Health Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission and the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP) Bangladesh Chapter. The rally aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of prevention.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission's Contributions
Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been implementing drug prevention, science-based treatment, and rehabilitation programmes in the country since 1990. Currently, the organization operates drug treatment and rehabilitation centers for men in Gazipur, Munshiganj, and Jessore, and a specialized center for women in Dhaka.
