Prime Minister's Adviser and his Office Spokesperson Dr. Mahdi Amin today outlined five initiatives taken by the student-friendly government to ensure the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are held in a fair, smooth and safe environment. In a post on his verified Facebook page, the adviser disclosed details of the initiatives. He said the HSC and equivalent examinations were held today in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere at 2,583 examination centres across the country, except under the Chattogram Education Board. Students participated in the examinations with enthusiasm and motivation alongside a significant improvement in the weather.
Government Initiatives
The government has implemented several measures to facilitate the HSC examinations. Firstly, based on the opinions of various stakeholders including divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, police superintendents, chairmen of education boards, and officials from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the government decided to continue the examinations as scheduled for all education boards except the Chattogram Education Board, prioritizing the interests of a large number of students.
Secondly, local administrations have been instructed to take necessary decisions depending on the situation, including immediate relocation of examination centres, postponement of examinations, or extension of examination time if transportation disruptions or waterlogging create problems during the examinations.
Student Welfare Measures
Thirdly, students who were unable to sit for any subject of the ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations due to adverse weather or other unavoidable reasons will be allowed to take the examination on the same date and at the same time using the identical question paper for the corresponding subject that has already been postponed under the Chattogram Education Board.
Fourthly, all examinees will be awarded full marks for the relevant question in the creative section of the Physics First Paper examination held on July 13 due to errors and inconsistencies in the question paper. Fifthly, those involved in preparing the erroneous Physics First Paper question paper have already been suspended temporarily.
Government Commitment
Mahdi Amin emphasized that under the Prime Minister's directives, the government is making every effort with the utmost sincerity and responsibility to conduct the examinations properly. Ensuring the welfare of students and the continuity of their education is one of the foremost priorities of the democratic state in this endeavour.
