Prof. Khairul Islam has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). Simultaneously, Prof. AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury has been relieved from the position. The appointment was made through a notification by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, with the approval of the President and Chancellor.
Prof. Khairul Islam currently serves as the Head of the Department of Business Administration at SUST. He has also been the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Business Administration and the General Secretary of the University Teachers' Association of Bangladesh (UTAB) SUST branch.
According to the notification, Prof. Khairul Islam's tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be for four years from the date of joining or until his retirement, whichever comes first. He will receive the same salary and allowances as his primary position, along with other benefits as per the rules. As the Chief Executive Officer of the university, he will be required to be present on campus at all times.
