Bangladesh Open University (BOU) has initiated the admission process for the fourth batch (July 2026 session) of its highly popular postgraduate program, Master of Development Studies (MDS). This program is designed to equip individuals with global-standard qualifications for careers in the sustainable development, policy-making, and social change sectors, which are increasingly in demand by governmental and non-governmental organizations, international NGOs, and various development agencies.
The MDS program is structured over two years, divided into four semesters, each lasting six months. Students are required to complete a total of 16 courses or 65 credits. To accommodate working professionals, the registration period for this course extends up to a maximum of five years, allowing students to complete their credits within this timeframe. Classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays using a blended (combined online and offline) approach, while final semester exams will be conducted on weekends at the BOU main campus in Gazipur.
Eligible candidates must hold a three or four-year bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or college. Alternatively, a two-year bachelor's (pass) degree along with a master's degree is also acceptable. Applicants with additional educational qualifications may receive extra points in the admission test. The application fee is 1000 Taka, and the total fee for the first semester, excluding the application fee, is 19,100 Taka. Interested candidates must apply online through the official BOU admission website by June 20, 2026. Successful applicants must print and save their completed application forms, which will be required, along with original educational certificates and transcripts, for the oral (admission) test scheduled for July 3, 2026.
