The government has postponed the HSC and equivalent examinations under the Chattogram Education Board scheduled for July 13, 15 and 16 due to adverse weather and the ongoing flood situation. The decision affects HSC, Alim, HSC (BMT), HSC (Vocational) and Diploma in Commerce examinations under the General Education Board, Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board across all districts of Chattogram Division.

Postponement Details

The decision was taken after reviewing reports from deputy commissioners in the division and following a request from the Controller of Examinations of the Chattogram Education Board, according to a press release issued on Saturday. Examinations under the Madrasa and Technical Education Boards within the Chattogram region will also remain suspended on the three scheduled dates.

Examinations Elsewhere Unaffected

However, HSC and equivalent examinations under all other general, madrasa and technical education boards across the country will be held as scheduled. A revised timetable for the postponed examinations will be announced later, the release said.

Impact on Students

The postponement of these crucial examinations is expected to affect thousands of students in the Chattogram Division. The ongoing floods have already disrupted daily life and education in the region, making it challenging for students to prepare for their exams under normal conditions.

Why This Matters

This decision highlights the severe impact of natural disasters on educational activities in Bangladesh. With the monsoon season bringing frequent floods, the education system often faces disruptions. Ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff is paramount, even if it means altering the academic calendar.

What Happens Next

Students and educators in the Chattogram Division will need to stay updated on the revised examination schedule. The authorities are expected to announce new dates soon, allowing students to plan their studies accordingly. Meanwhile, efforts to mitigate the flood situation and provide relief to affected areas continue.
