Deputy Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobi Hajjaj stated that an estimated 50 to 60 thousand new teachers will be required within the next five years to expand arts education in primary schools. This expansion includes subjects like music, dance, fine arts, drama, and sports.
Hajjaj made these remarks during a meeting with university teachers and experts from music, dance, drama, and fine arts departments. The meeting aimed to discuss the integration of these subjects into the primary education curriculum and the development of a new curriculum.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the government's commitment to aligning the education system with the Prime Minister's vision, ensuring students develop both as global citizens and acquire necessary skills for future careers. He also highlighted the importance of collaboration with universities to train future primary school teachers in these subjects.
Hajjaj noted that arts subjects will not be treated merely as extracurricular activities but as essential components of students' holistic development. The ministry is already planning curriculum development and teacher training initiatives to support this goal.
