Myanmar has expressed a strong interest in expanding its trade relationship with Bangladesh, according to recent discussions between the Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh, Kyaw Soe Moe, and Bangladesh's Commerce Minister, Khandakar Abdul Muktadir. The ambassador highlighted the importance of resuming border trade, which was previously suspended, to benefit local traders and communities along the border.

During the meeting, the ambassador proposed restarting border trade on a limited or temporary basis to facilitate economic benefits for both countries. He also emphasized the potential for increased trade in key sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, rice, pharmaceuticals, and frozen food, advocating for stronger business-to-business engagement to maximize bilateral trade potential.
