Bangladesh's general point-to-point inflation rate has eased slightly to 9.16 percent in June 2026, down from 9.42 percent in May 2026, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

Bangladesh's general point-to-point inflation rate has eased slightly to 9.16 percent in June 2026, down from 9.42 percent in May 2026, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). This marks a continued decline from April's rate of 9.04 percent. The easing trend is evident in both food and non-food inflation, with food inflation dropping to 8.60 percent in June from 9.06 percent in May, and non-food inflation declining to 9.61 percent from 9.71 percent over the same period.

Regional Breakdown

The inflation rate in rural areas also saw a decrease, falling to 9.23 percent in June from 9.48 percent in May. Rural food inflation declined to 8.52 percent from 8.95 percent, while non-food inflation dropped to 9.89 percent from 9.98 percent. Urban inflation also declined, with the rate falling to 9.01 percent in June from 9.25 percent in May.

Food and Non-Food Inflation

In urban areas, food inflation declined to 8.76 percent in June from 9.29 percent in May, while non-food inflation decreased to 9.16 percent from 9.24 percent. The 12-month moving average inflation rate continued to decline, estimated at 8.68 percent for the period from July 2025 to June 2026, down from 10.03 percent during the corresponding period from July 2024 to June 2025.

Wage Rate Growth

Meanwhile, the national wage rate growth stood at 8.18 percent on a point-to-point basis in June, marginally lower than the 8.21 percent recorded in May. The BBS said the Wage Rate Index for June was prepared using data collected from all 64 districts.
