The 20th Bangladesh Denim Expo, a two-day international exhibition, commenced today in Dhaka. The theme of this year's expo is 'From the Frontline to the Future Path'. More than 50 institutions from 10 countries, including host Bangladesh, are participating. The exhibition will conclude tomorrow. It is open to the public from 11 AM to 8 PM daily.

The Denim Expo, held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Purbachal, Dhaka, officially opened this afternoon. The opening ceremony was attended by Michael Miller, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Bangladesh and Head of Delegation, Mahmud Hasan Khan, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Javier Santonja Olsina, Head of Inditex for Bangladesh and Pakistan, Mostafiz Uddin, Founder and CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo, Luthfela Farid, Director of Pacific Jeans, and Mohiuddin Rubel, former Director of BGMEA.

EU Ambassador Michael Miller said the EU is looking at countries like Bangladesh that are entering a new phase of their economic journey. He added that the EU is currently reviewing Bangladesh's request for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is a manifestation of the promise to build a stronger economic partnership with Bangladesh.

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said Bangladesh is now ahead of China in denim exports to both the EU and the US markets. He attributed this achievement, in part, to the significant role played by the Bangladesh Denim Expo.
