During his visit to Chattogram, Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman actively participated in the Bangla QR digital payment promotion campaign. This initiative is part of his two-day official visit, focused on boosting digital payments and reviewing the central bank's policy support initiatives. On the first day, the governor visited Gani Bakery, where he made a purchase using the Bangla QR platform, highlighting the growing acceptance of digital financial services.

Rahman expressed satisfaction at Gani Bakery's adoption of Bangla QR, a move he believes will encourage other businesses to follow suit. 'The adoption of Bangla QR by a heritage business like Gani Bakery reflects the growing acceptance of digital payments and the confidence of people in the country's digital financial services,' he said. The governor emphasized that wider use of digital payments in business would enhance transparency, reduce transaction costs, and expand financial inclusion.

Bangladesh Bank has been working diligently to create a secure, simple, and low-cost cashless payment ecosystem. The Bangla QR platform, interoperable and convenient, is rapidly gaining popularity across the nation. The central bank anticipates that Governor Rahman's visit and participation in the campaign will inspire both businesses and consumers to adopt digital payment services more broadly.

During his visit, the governor held discussions with officials from the Bangladesh Bank Chattogram Office about policy support measures and their impact on the local economy. He encouraged businesses nationwide to embrace Bangla QR and contribute to building a cashless Bangladesh, stressing the importance of digital payments in modernizing the financial sector.

Rahman's visit underscores the central bank's commitment to promoting digital financial services as a cornerstone of economic development. By supporting the Bangla QR platform, the bank aims to foster a more transparent, efficient, and inclusive financial system.
