In a significant crackdown on illegal arms, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two suspected criminals and recovered foreign-made firearms from their possession during separate operations in Khulna and Jashore districts. The operations underscore the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons and dismantle criminal networks.

Khulna Operation

In Khulna, a team of RAB-6 conducted a special operation around 12:50 pm on Sunday in the Rayermohol area of Khulna city. They arrested Md. Robiul Islam, 36, son of late Sheikh Lal Mia of the area. During the arrest, the team recovered a foreign-made revolver from his possession. Robiul is an active member of the Tiger Group and has 16 cases filed against him with different police stations in the Khulna Metropolitan area, including charges under the Arms Act, narcotics offences, attempted murder, and theft.

Jashore Operation

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Jashore, RAB-6 arrested another suspected criminal, Shahadat Hossain, with a foreign-made pistol. The arrest was made around 8:30 pm on Saturday during a raid at a house on Barek Road in the Chopdarpara area of Shankarpur in Jashore town.

The RAB press release stated that its regular drives against armed criminals, drug traffickers, and those accused in sensational criminal cases would continue. The arrests and seizures are part of a broader initiative to enhance public safety and reduce criminal activities in the region.
