The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted rain in different parts of the country within the next 24 hours, starting from 9 am. According to a Met office bulletin issued this morning, light to moderately heavy rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Certain Divisions

The bulletin also indicated that heavy to very heavy falls may occur over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. This suggests that these areas should prepare for significant rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding and disruptions.

Temperature Changes

In terms of temperature, the day temperature may fall slightly, while the night temperature is expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country. The highest temperature recorded on Tuesday was 33.8 degrees Celsius in Ishurdi under the Rajshahi division, whereas the minimum temperature today was 23.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.

Recent Rainfall Data

In the last 24 hours, till 6 am today, the highest rainfall of 314 millimeters was recorded in Bandarban, followed by 287 mm in Rangamati, 284 mm in Chattogram, and 264 mm in Nikli of Kishoreganj. These figures highlight the intensity of recent rainfall in certain regions.

Sunrise and Sunset Timings

For Dhaka, the sun sets at 6:50 pm today and rises at 5:18 am tomorrow. These timings are crucial for planning daily activities and understanding the daylight hours available.

Why This Matters

The forecasted rain is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it will provide much-needed relief from the heat for many regions. Secondly, farmers may benefit from the rainfall, especially those in areas experiencing drought conditions. However, heavy rainfall can also lead to challenges such as flooding, waterlogging, and potential damage to infrastructure. Therefore, it is essential for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
