Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita today reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of children while simultaneously fostering a greener and more sustainable future for Bangladesh. Speaking at the inauguration of the 'One Child, One Tree' programme at Nabagram Government Primary School in Manikganj Sadar Upazila, she underscored that the initiative is about more than just planting saplings; it aims to cultivate a Green Bangladesh for future generations.
Commitment to Sustainability
Minister Afroza stressed the importance of environmental protection as a shared responsibility. She urged everyone to take an active role in nurturing the saplings distributed under the programme, highlighting that safeguarding the environment is a collective duty. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam, and various local political leaders and activists.
Focus on Children's Wellbeing
The 'One Child, One Tree' programme is part of broader government efforts to enhance children's welfare. By involving children in environmental initiatives, the government aims to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness about sustainability from a young age. Later, Minister Afroza joined the monthly District Development and Coordination Committee meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room, where she continued to advocate for these integrated goals.
In addition to environmental efforts, the minister also participated in the Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti 2026 programme at the Manikganj District Shilpakala Academy. There, she distributed prizes to winners of various competitions, further demonstrating the government's commitment to cultural and educational enrichment alongside environmental sustainability.
