Gazipur City Corporation Announces Tk 5,102 Crore Budget for FY 2026–27

Gazipur City Corporation has announced a proposed budget of Taka 5,102 crore 35 lakh and eight thousands for the 2026–27 fiscal year, focusing on urban development and infrastructure expansion.

Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) has announced a proposed budget of Taka 5,102 crore 35 lakh and eight thousands for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The budget, prioritizing urban development, infrastructure expansion, safe water supply, environmental improvement, and enhanced civic services, was presented by GCC Administrator Md. Shawkat Hossain Sarkar at the Nagar Bhaban conference hall. The budget is the 14th for the corporation, with an estimated total expenditure of Taka 2,480.48 crore. Key priorities include mosquito control, waste management modernization, traffic congestion mitigation, and drainage system improvements.

The proposed budget includes an opening balance of Tk 2,437.26 crore, with revenue projections from various funds and government grants. On the expenditure side, allocations include Taka Tk 417.70 crore for the general fund, Taka Tk 78.04 crore for water supply, and Taka Tk 1,608.73 crore for foreign-assisted and DPP-based projects. The budget projects a closing balance of Taka Tk 2,621.88 crore at the end of the fiscal year.

Administrator Shawkat Hossain Sarkar emphasized the corporation's commitment to transforming Gazipur into a modern, green, and livable city. He highlighted the importance of public cooperation and transparency in achieving these goals. The budget also includes plans for constructing modern slaughterhouses, community centers, automated traffic management systems, and public toilets.

The revised budget for FY 2025–26 estimates total revenue at Taka 3,463.07 crore and total expenditure at Taka 1,025.81 crore, with a closing balance of Taka Tk 2,437.26 crore. Officials, journalists, and civil society representatives attended the budget announcement ceremony.
