The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,836 cases against vehicles, owners, and drivers for violating traffic rules as part of its ongoing drive to improve traffic discipline in the capital. The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division. The Traffic Division carried out enforcement drives over the past day against traffic rule violators across the city.
Enforcement Drives and Actions Taken
During the drive conducted on July 9 and 10, traffic police dumped 834 motor vehicles and towed 317 others for various traffic offences. Several teams of the DMP Traffic Division have been working across the capital to ensure smooth traffic movement and facilitate easier commuting for city residents. The drive against traffic rule violators will continue to maintain discipline on Dhaka's roads.
Cases Filed by Different Divisions
Of the total cases, the Wari Traffic Division filed the highest number with 857, followed by Mirpur with 527, Uttara with 299, Tejgaon with 274, Motijheel with 256, Lalbagh with 239, Gulshan with 237, and Ramna with 147. This distribution highlights the areas where traffic violations are most prevalent and where enforcement efforts are concentrated.
