State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam announced today that Bogura's development programs will be aligned with the national development activities under the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Alam highlighted that Bogura's development had been halted for a long time due to political vendetta.
Upgrades and New Projects
Alam revealed several key projects for Bogura, including the upgrading of Bogura Airport to international standards and the approval of the first air base of the Bangladesh Air Force for the northern region. The new fighter jets of the Bangladesh Air Force will be stationed at the Bogura airport. Additionally, a drone manufacturing factory in a joint venture with Turkey is planned for Bogura.
Addressing Past Deprivations
The State Minister acknowledged that Bogura has been deprived of development for a long time, leading to poor infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and culverts. He emphasized his efforts to bridge these development gaps, including transforming Bogura University into Bogura Science and Technology University.
Railway and Road Connectivity
Alam announced the initiation of a 72-kilometer railway project connecting Sirajganj to Bogura, which is expected to save Taka 122 crore and eliminate the need for a separate road. This project aims to improve connectivity and reduce transportation costs for people from 11 districts who pass through Bogura.
Local Government and Elections
The State Minister also discussed upcoming local government elections and the budget allocation for conducting elections at five levels of local government. He urged people not to create unnecessary controversy if members of his family are entrusted with responsibilities based on merit.
Significance for Bogura
These developments are significant for Bogura as they aim to address long-standing issues of infrastructure, employment, and connectivity. The projects are expected to bring substantial improvements to the lives of Bogura's residents and enhance the district's economic and social standing.
