DHAKA – The Bangladesh Centre for Air and Space Power Studies (BCASPS) hosted a national seminar titled "Charting the Sky for National Security: Bangladesh in the Evolving Geopolitical Era" at BAF Base Bashar in Dhaka Cantonment. Prime Minister's Adviser on Finance and Planning Professor Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir attended as the chief guest, while Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan was the special guest. In his keynote address, Prof Titumir emphasized the importance of research on national security and air power in the current geopolitical landscape, commending BCASPS for its efforts and promising continued government support for scientific research and innovation.

Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan highlighted the need for a modern air power capability aligned with Bangladesh's national security and development goals. The seminar featured presentations by distinguished speakers on national security, global geopolitics, and air sovereignty. Notable presentations included Professor Rashed Uz Zaman's "Thinking of Air Space in a Wolf World", Air Vice Marshal Md Asadul Karim's "Air Power in the Context of National Security of Bangladesh", and Air Commodore Mohammad Mushtakur Rahman's "The Strategy of Air Space".

The event concluded with an open discussion where security and diplomacy experts shared insights on Bangladesh's sovereignty, national security, and the changing geopolitical environment. The seminar was attended by former BAF chiefs, senior military and civilian officials. BCASPS, inaugurated by the Chief of Air Staff on January 18, completed its registration on June 22, with its new building inaugurated on July 20.

Importance of Air Power in National Security

The seminar underscored the critical role of air power in ensuring national security. As Bangladesh navigates an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, the development of a robust air power capability is essential. This includes not only the acquisition of advanced aircraft and technology but also the fostering of a culture of innovation and research within the Bangladesh Air Force. The discussions at the seminar highlighted the need for continuous adaptation and modernization to effectively address emerging threats and challenges.
