After a massive fire on May 25 destroyed hundreds of homes in Kalshi Slum, Anwara Begom and her family are now collecting coal from the burnt remains to earn a living. The fire left them homeless, and they have set up a temporary shelter with the help of relief materials.

Anwara, along with her two grandchildren, was seen collecting coal from the debris of her burnt home. She explained that the coal from her destroyed house is now her source of income. The family, already struggling, has been left with nothing after the fire.

Similarly, Nasir Miah, who suffered partial paralysis, and his wife, a midwife, lost their seven-room house in the fire. They too are now collecting coal to make ends meet. The fire has left them and many others in the slum without homes or income.

Nazma Begum, who lost her house and small shop in the fire, shared her grief, stating that this Eid will be remembered as a time of sorrow and loss. The fire has wiped out all their belongings and sources of income.
