State Minister for Water Resources Forhad Hossain Azad today confirmed that the country has adequate fertilizer stocks and promised that no syndicate over fertilizer will be tolerated. He emphasized that action will be taken against anyone forming such syndicates. Forhad made these remarks while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony for the waiver of agricultural loans for farmers at the Boda Government Pilot Model School and College ground.
Government Initiatives for Farmers
Forhad highlighted the government's farmer-friendly initiatives, mentioning the ongoing distribution of farmer cards. He stated that 10,000 farmers in each upazila will receive these cards. Additionally, the government is committed to planting 25 crore trees to address climate change impacts and maintain environmental balance.
Loan Waivers and Healthcare Services
The state minister also referred to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's initiatives, including the waiver of the principal amount of TK 10,000 and accrued interest for farmers. He noted that the government aims to deliver healthcare services to every doorstep and will transform every upazila hospital into a 101-bed hospital. Forhad credited Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman for previously waiving agricultural loans of TK 5,000.
At the event, each farmer received five fruit-bearing saplings along with a loan waiver certificate. The State Minister handed over agricultural loan waiver certificates involving TK 8.73 crore to 5,890 farmers of Boda upazila. A total of 29,450 saplings were distributed among the beneficiaries. The program concluded with farmers participating in traditional rural games.
