In a series of coordinated anti-crime operations across Dhaka, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 296 suspects and filed 46 cases over the past 24 hours. The operations, aimed at combating crime, narcotics trafficking, and illegal weapon possession, resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of contraband and other illicit items.

Seized Items

Among the items seized were 132 kilograms of cannabis, 14,765 Yaba tablets, 2 grams of heroin, a crude cocktail bomb, seven plastic containers filled with petrol, a motorcycle, an auto-rickshaw, a CNG-run vehicle, 13 mobile phones, a jeep, a knife, two anti-cutters, and a key. These seizures highlight the extensive nature of the operations and the variety of illegal activities targeted.

Divisional Breakdown

The arrests were spread across various divisions in Dhaka. Tejgaon Division saw 54 arrests, Wari Division 52, Uttara Division 42, Mirpur Division 41, Motijheel Division 36, Ramna Division 22, and both Lalbagh and Gulshan divisions saw 21 arrests each. Additionally, the Detective Branch (DB) arrested seven suspects.
