Ukraine's police chief, Ivan Vyhivskyi, has accused Russian agents of recruiting local girls to assassinate Ukrainian soldiers. This follows the arrest of a 17-year-old girl for the poisoning of a soldier. Vyhivskyi claims that six such assassinations have been planned this year using the Telegram app, with one attempt thwarted by police. He alleges that Russian recruiters find young girls on messaging platforms, offering them money for their services. The girls are then instructed to use dating websites to find soldiers, with the Russian agents providing funds for meetings. The plan involves spiking the soldiers' drinks with methadone, a powerful painkiller that can be lethal in high doses.
Details of the Alleged Plot
According to Vyhivskyi, the Russian agents operate remotely, directing the girls through various messaging platforms. The girls are instructed to use dating websites to locate soldiers and are provided with funds for meetings. Once a soldier is identified, the girls are directed to spike their drinks with methadone. The 17-year-old girl arrested in Zhytomyr was found to have been in regular contact with a Russian intelligence agent on Telegram and had received a parcel containing a crystalline substance believed to be methadone.
