BGB Seizes and Destroys Narcotics Valued at Tk 84 Crore in Cumilla and Satkhira

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) destroyed a significant quantity of narcotics worth over Tk 83.78 crore in separate events held in Cumilla and Satkhira.

In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today destroyed a massive haul of narcotics worth more than Tk 83.78 crore. The destruction ceremonies were held at the headquarters of Cumilla Battalion (10 BGB) and Neeldumur Battalion (17 BGB). The seized drugs, including liquor, phensedyl, yaba tablets, cannabis, heroin, illegal medicines, narcotic tablets, LSD, and 2.4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice), were incinerated in the presence of senior officials and members of the judiciary.

Brigadier General Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Region Commander of BGB's Sarail Region, attended the event in Cumilla as the chief guest. The Cumilla Battalion destroyed narcotics and other intoxicating substances worth Tk 51,83,84,125, seized over the past three years. Similarly, Brigadier General Mahmudul Hasan, BGB Jessore Region Commander, presided over the event in Satkhira, where narcotics worth Tk 31,94,34,350 were destroyed.

The anti-smuggling operations in Cumilla and Satkhira have been ongoing, resulting in the arrest of 41 individuals and the seizure of contraband goods worth Tk 51,85,07,550. The destroyed items were part of these extensive operations, highlighting BGB's commitment to combating drug smuggling along the border areas.

Senior officials from the district administrations, members of the judiciary, representatives of law enforcement agencies, the Department of Narcotics Control, Customs, public representatives, distinguished citizens, and journalists from various media outlets attended the ceremonies. The events underscored the collaborative efforts in the fight against drug trafficking in Bangladesh.
