In Khulna, an integrated effort involving all stakeholders is underway to build a clean, safe, and livable city, according to Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju. Speaking at a seminar on the current dengue situation, he urged vigilance and responsibility from physicians and the public as dengue infections increase. The seminar, titled "Current Dengue Situation and Updated Management," was held at Khulna Medical College Hospital to raise awareness and strengthen preparedness against the dengue outbreak.
The event was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Society of Medicine and the Department of Medicine at Khulna Medical College. Administrator Manju highlighted intensified prescriptions for dengue patients, the supply of essential medicines, and mosquito control activities. Field-level operations are conducted twice daily to promptly address emerging problems and reduce dengue infections, thereby easing pressure on hospitals.
Waterlogging was identified as a major challenge, but continuous efforts have led to significant progress in resolving this issue. Starting tomorrow, more extensive and strengthened dengue prevention measures will be launched across the city. Prof Dr Paritosh Kumar Roy, Convener of the Khulna chapter of the Bangladesh Society of Medicine, presided over the seminar. Other notable attendees included Principal of Khulna Medical College Prof Dr Golam Masud, Director of Khulna Medical College Hospital Dr Kazi Ainul Islam, Vice-Principal Prof Dr Syed Amanul Islam, and Deputy Director Dr Sujat Ahmed.
