Thousands of migrants crossed overnight from Morocco into Spain's Ceuta enclave, a police source reported on Friday. The source noted that it was impossible to estimate the total number of people who made the crossing.

"There was a steady stream of people all night long," the source said, adding that while arrivals were lower than during the day, migrants "continued to arrive overnight and are still arriving" on Friday morning.

A total of 18 people died while attempting to reach the Spanish enclave, according to the source. The ongoing migrant flow underscores the challenges faced by both Moroccan and Spanish authorities in managing border security and humanitarian responses.

Ceuta, a Spanish territory on the northern coast of Africa, has long been a focal point for migration due to its proximity to Morocco and its status as a gateway to Europe. The recent surge in migrant crossings highlights the complex dynamics of international migration and the need for coordinated efforts to address the root causes and humanitarian aspects of the crisis.
