Kuwait and Bahrain's militaries reported on Sunday that they were responding to Iranian aerial attacks, with air raid sirens sounding in both Gulf countries as Tehran pressed its retaliatory strikes across the region. The Kuwaiti army stated that its air defences were confronting hostile missile and drone attacks following the Iranian aggression. Meanwhile, Bahrain's military said it had intercepted and destroyed a number of Iranian aerial attacks. Iran's army claimed it had targeted two US bases in Kuwait with drones in response to American attacks on Iranian territory.

Kuwait's Response

In Kuwait City, warning sirens sounded as the Kuwaiti air defences engaged hostile missiles and drones. An AFP journalist reported hearing blasts in the north of Kuwait following the attacks. This comes after Iran targeted a power and water plant as well as an oil facility in Kuwait, prompting US bombardments in response.

Bahrain's Defense

Bahrain, which hosts the US Fifth Fleet, also faced Iranian attacks. The Bahraini military stated that its air defences had confronted, intercepted, and destroyed several Iranian aerial attacks. An AFP journalist reported hearing blasts in the north of Bahrain after a warning siren rang out across the capital Manama.

US Bases Targeted

Iran claimed to have targeted two US bases in Kuwait with drones. According to a statement on state media, the attacks were directed at Camp Udairi and Ali Al Salem Air Base. These attacks follow renewed hostilities between Iran and the US, despite a ceasefire and memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.

Escalating Tensions

The recent attacks highlight the escalating tensions in the Gulf region. Both Kuwait and Bahrain, which host US military installations, have been at the forefront of these hostilities. The situation remains volatile as both sides continue to exchange attacks.
