The 10th Cadet, Junior, Under-21 and Senior South Asian Karate Championship and the second South Asian Under-14 Karate Cup began today at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Dhaka's Mirpur. State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque inaugurated the two-day event as the chief guest. The championship is organized by the South Asian Karate Federation with the support of the Bangladesh Karate Federation (BKF).
Early Highlights
On the opening day, Thokar Amrit of Nepal won the gold medal in the Under-21 men's kata event. Bangladesh's Tariq Zubin claimed the silver medal while Timpun Gidon of India and Shyamal of Sri Lanka shared the bronze medals. In the women's individual kata, Khink Alina of Nepal secured the gold medal, with Allepola of Sri Lanka winning the silver and Bangladesh's Tabassum Shanzida earning the bronze.
Team and Individual Success
Sri Lanka won the gold medal in the junior girls' team Kata, with Bangladesh finishing with the silver medal. In the junior boys' individual kata, Mananthar of Nepal captured the gold medal, while Bangladesh's Mahin Adam earned the silver and Setethri David claimed the bronze medal.
