The government is planning to construct sports grounds at every union and build 10 sports villages in 10 districts, according to State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque. Speaking as the chief guest at the final event of the Begum Khaleda Zia Football Tournament (bellow 17 years) in Masdair, Narayanganj, Haque announced the initiative aimed at encouraging sports among the youth and reducing device addiction.
Haque highlighted the plan to establish an international standard sports village in Narayanganj, which will include various indoor and outdoor modern gaming facilities such as football, cricket, archery, shooting, and swimming. He emphasized the prime minister's commitment to building a sound nation through sports and the government's efforts to make sports a compulsory subject in textbooks.
The state minister called for cooperation from all sectors to build a drug-free society. The event was attended by lawmakers Nazrul Islam Azad, Azharul Islam Manan, Narayanganj Development Authority (NDA) Chairman Mashukul Islam Rajib, district council administrator Professor Mamun Mahmud, and other political leaders.
This initiative is part of broader government efforts to promote sports and healthy living among the youth, reflecting a commitment to national development through physical and mental well-being.
