38th National Age Group Swimming and Diving Championship: Eight New Records Set

The 38th National Age Group Swimming and Diving Championship concluded with eight new national records set during the four-day event.

The four-day 38th National Age Group Swimming and Diving Championship-2026 concluded today with the creation of eight new national records. Organised by the Bangladesh Swimming Federation, the championship was held from July 11 to 14 at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur, Dhaka. In the closing and prize-giving ceremony, President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest.

A total of 20 swimming events were held on the final day, with swimmers setting eight new national records. The release said Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) topped the medal table, winning 66 gold, 58 silver and 55 bronze medals. Nikli Swimming Club of Kishoreganj finished second with 14 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals, while Meghna Mohona Swimming Club secured third place with 11 gold, five silver and 12 bronze medals.

In the boys' 15-17 years age group, Md Abdul Azim was named the best swimmer after winning 11 gold and two silver medals and setting seven records. In the girls' 13-14 years age group, Fatiha Mahtab Maisha was adjudged the best female swimmer, winning 10 gold and one silver medal while creating four records.

In diving, BKSP's Sayedul Islam was named the best male diver after winning a gold medal, while Arpa Das emerged as the best female diver, claiming three gold medals and setting a new national record. Swimmers who set new national records were awarded a cash prize of Tk 5,000 each, the ISPR added.

The championship not only highlighted the exceptional talent within Bangladesh's young swimmers and divers but also underscored the importance of continued support and investment in the nation's aquatic sports programs. The new records set during the event will inspire future generations to strive for excellence in swimming and diving.
