Mujibul Islam Salim, the former president of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), has been hospitalized due to a severe illness. He is currently receiving treatment in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in the capital.
According to a CPB leader, Salim fell ill on Sunday afternoon while at the party office. He was initially taken to Health and Hope Hospital in the capital's Panthpath area. Following the advice of doctors there, he was later transferred to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital.
The CPB leader mentioned that Salim is suffering from respiratory distress due to pneumonia. His daughter, Swarna Islam, informed in a Facebook post that an angiogram will be conducted on Tuesday morning. Further treatment decisions will be made based on the angiogram report.
