Election Commission Extends Deadline for 21 Candidates to Submit Election Expenses

The Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for 21 candidates who failed to submit their election expense reports.

The Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for 21 candidates who failed to submit their election expense reports for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election. These candidates have been given until June 14 to submit their expense details.

According to EC sources, a letter signed on May 23 was sent to the relevant returning officers and EC officials, reminding candidates of the penalties for not submitting expense reports, which include imprisonment from two to seven years and fines.

Candidates are required to submit their election expense reports to the EC within 30 days of the election results being gazetted. The 13th Jatiya Sangsad election was held on February 12. The EC initially extended the deadline to May 6, but 21 candidates still failed to submit their reports. Now, a second extension has been granted until June 14.

The candidates who have not submitted their expense reports include Mirza Mo. Shawkat Akbar (Roshni) of Nilphamari-4 seat from Bangladesh Jatiya Party, Habib Mo. Faruq of Lalmonirhat-1 seat from Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, and others from various districts and parties.
