Health officials have reported one dengue-related death and 450 new hospitalizations within the past 24 hours. The surge in cases has raised concerns about the ongoing dengue outbreak in the country.

Regional Breakdown of Hospitalizations

The 450 new dengue patients were hospitalized across various divisions. Specifically, 64 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 51 in Chattogram division, 102 in Dhaka division, 50 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 43 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 66 in Khulna division, 19 in Mymensingh division, 11 in Rajshahi division, and 44 in Rangpur division, according to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement.

Year-to-Date Dengue Statistics

Since the beginning of the year, Bangladesh has recorded 39 dengue-related deaths and 12,020 cases. In comparison, last year saw 413 deaths and 1,02,861 cases, while 2024 reported 575 deaths and 1,01,214 cases. The continuous rise in cases underscores the severity of the dengue situation in the country.
