Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon stressed the importance of moral and ethical education alongside academic learning to develop students' creativity and confidence.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon emphasized the need for education that goes beyond textbooks, advocating for the inclusion of moral values and ethics to build students into worthy citizens. Speaking as the chief guest at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a new academic building at Nalchira Secondary School in Gournadi upazila, he highlighted that traditional learning systems often undermine students' creativity and confidence.

Moral Education Crucial

Swapon stated, 'Education should not be limited to textbooks alone. Alongside academic learning, students must be given education on moral values and ethics.' He called upon teachers, parents, and students to collaborate in providing quality education infused with ethical values and patriotism.

Recognizing Teachers' Role

Describing educational institutions as 'beacons of knowledge,' the minister acknowledged teachers as the torchbearers of this light. He urged recognizing their knowledge and experience as a driving force for national development.

Importance of Sports

The minister also underscored the importance of sports alongside academic studies. He said regular participation in games promotes not only physical fitness but also mental development, discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills among students.

New Academic Building

Expressing optimism about the new academic building, Swapon said it would significantly strengthen the school's educational activities and create a better learning environment. Following the ceremony, he planted a tree sapling on the school premises.

The programme was presided over by Nalchira Secondary School Headmaster Nurul Alam. Executive Engineer of the Barishal Education Engineering Department Shahidul Islam, former school president Abdul Sattar Mridha, and managing committee member Al Mamun Swapan were present among others.
