Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has expressed a firm commitment to providing students with completely error-free, quality, lively, and attractive textbooks for the 2027 academic year. This announcement came during the inaugural ceremony of the 'Workshop on Finalising the Framework of Four New Textbooks' for primary and secondary levels, held at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium.
Addressing Past Shortcomings
Milon acknowledged that past textbooks contained numerous spelling mistakes and inappropriate content, which had drawn severe criticism. He assured that this time, the government is undertaking intensive group-based work with education experts to clear away those deficiencies and prepare one hundred percent error-free books.
Quality and Attractiveness
The minister emphasized that there will be no compromise on the quality of printing and paper. The covers and illustrations inside the books will be designed to be so lively that they attract young learners, with pictures that speak for themselves.
Stakeholder Involvement
Stakeholders are being given the opportunity to thoroughly review the manuscripts of the four new textbooks before they are finalized. Expert teams formed by various state ministers have been asked to submit their conclusive statements within the next five working days.
Long-Term Plan
Outlining the government’s long-term plan, Milon said that work on new textbooks for the revised curriculum for the 2028 academic year will begin from August 1, ensuring sufficient time and avoiding any rush. He mentioned that the Prime Minister personally monitors the development of the education sector and is committed to ensuring an excellent and joyful learning environment for the country’s future generations.
